You've donated to a great cause, now its time to fish...and win! No tournament should be without prizes and we have many! Winners of the prize categories listed below will be crowned in the Beach and Boat division for the Adult grouping. Juniors will have one winner selected in each category from beach and boat division combined. As per the tournament rules, all winners will have submitted a catch for the appropriate prize category along with a clear photograph with visible and accurate measurement. For First Albie and Bonito prizes, time is of the essence, so please submit as soon as possible. If there are multiple submissions within a close time range, screenshots with time stamps may be requested to fairly determine a winner.
The Gator Prize. This prize will be awarded to the person who lands the largest bluefish in the month of August. Winners selected from Boat, Beach, and Junior divisions.
The Snapper Prize. Sometimes the shorter the better, and for this prize it is worth measuring your smallest bluefish. Along with your three longest entries, please don't forget to submit a snapper blue for a great prize! Winners selected from Boat, Beach, and Junior divisions.
The Grand Prize of the August Blues Tournament is The Triple Strike Prize. The longest total length of 3 bluefish will crown the winner of this prize. Possible to be won in 30 minutes...or 30 days! Big bluefish can often be found feeding together so if you find them, make sure to measure 3! Winners selected from Boat, Beach, and Junior divisions.
The Albie Time Prize. Nothing is better in August than landing the first False Albacore. A potential signal of a great fall ahead is the early arrival of these fish. Land one from beach or boat before anyone else to claim this prize! Winners selected from Boat, Beach, and Junior divisions.
The Elusive Bone Prize. Some years provide very few while others are loaded with reports of Atlantic Bonito's being caught from shore and boat. Early reports say that this prize will be taken very quickly in 2024! So don't forget to target this funny fish while chasing the blues.
If bonito and albies aren't enough there's always room for a really rare catch. Migrating species often find themselves on the end of a fisherman's line this time of year and that deserves The Unicorn Prize. Multiple prizes may be awarded if multiple species are caught. (Spanish Mackerel, Weakfish, King Mackerel, Houndfish ,ect.) Winners will be selected on the uniqueness of their catch.
The Family Prize. This year we would like more Juniors participating in the tournament. There is no better way of doing this then to take your family fishing. To be eligible to win, there must be a minimum of 3 family members and one MUST be a Junior. (Ex. 2 Adults and 1 Junior or 1 Adult and 2 Juniors). You can also have more family members participate 4, 5, 6 etc. The prize is awarded to the largest combined total of the longest bluefish submitted by each individual family member divided by the total number of family members submitting a bluefish. (Ex. 3 members, total length will be divided by 3, 4 members, total length will be divided by 4) Please email AugustBluesNantucket@gmail.com with the participating members of your family. When you register, sign up your children. (Junior Registration is FREE! Nantucket Oral Surgery will donate their registration fee to PPMD on submission of their first catch).
Weekly Prizes. Prizes will be awarded for the longest Bluefish caught during the week for Beach, Boat and Junior. One of Nantucket's Local Sponsor will be donating $100 gift certificates to the winners each week. The winners will be announced on the Bill Fisher's morning fishing report and appear on the Leaderboard. The gift certificates can be picked up at
Bill Fisher Tackle 127 Orange Street.
