Tournament Rules

The tournament shall consist of boat and beach divisions as well as adult and junior (17 and under) divisions.

Beach Division Rules

-For entry to be counted, fish must be caught on the shores of Nantucket.

Tuckernuck is included for beach fisherman.

-Fish must be caught on rod and reel.

Any other method is prohibited

-Flexible measuring devices must be kept visible

When submitting photos and videos, please keep the entirety of the measuring device visible.

-Photos must give evidence of a beach caught fish.

If it cannot be determined if the fish was caught from shore, the catch will not be counted for the beach division. (moved to boat division)

Boat Division Rules

-Fish must be caught within the 3 mile limit of Nantucket waters.

Outside the 3 mile boundaries of Nantucket and Tuckernuck will not be counted.

-Documentation of the fish must be done aboard the boat at time of catch

Photographs or Videos with measurements will only be counted if deemed to be on a boat. No dock or vehicle photos of fish will count toward the Boat Division. Measurement of the catch should happen at the time of the catch not at the end of the fishing trip.

-Flexible measuring devices must be kept visible

When submitting photos or videos please keep the entirety of the measuring device visible. Measuring devices mounted to a flat surface may lay underneath the fish while measuring. Videos of the entire fish on a measuring device is sometimes easier to document then a photograph when on a boat.

This tournament is designed to but fun yet competitive. Please use good judgement and respect your fellow angler.

Rules for measuring and documenting your fish

We hope, and expect, to see many submissions during the month of August.  To help facilitate retrieving and entering data, we ask that you follow these easy guidelines to provide the best measurement and information for us to enter.

- Measurements must be from the front lip of the fish to the tip of the tail (please allow the tail to lay flat). Picture or video must show the entirety of the fish and full measurement.

- Measuring devices fixed to a board or hard surface may have the fish lay on top of the measuring device or above/below it.

-Soft tape measuring devices should be measured above or below the fish to the best of your ability.  We ask that the entirety of the tape show in this picture or video, as the tape is not fixed to a flat smooth surface.  We ask this to avoid the tape folding or sliding underneath the fish, giving an inaccurate measurement.

- Photos or videos should be taken from directly above the fish (approximately 2-3ft above). We understand fish refuse to stay still while you document them so do the best you are able.

- Please submit all fish using the links or buttons on this website with species and length (selected to the nearest 0.25") When submitting please use the same name and email for each entry you want to count.

Submit a Catch!

We recommend that you use an August Blues Tournament Ruler to measure your catch (see image above).  The end of the Ruler includes a QR scan code that makes it easy to "Submit a Catch". Simply capture the QR scan code with your phone after you measured your catch and it will automatically take you to the entry form.
